God Has Chosen for Us to Transition to a New Age

Around 600 BC, Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, had a dream which troubled him. To make sure his counselors interpreted it correctly, he demanded first that they tell him what he dreamt. When they confessed their inability to do so, he ordered their execution. Just before they were to die, God revealed the dream and its interpretation to Daniel. Daniel praised God, acknowledging that “It is He who changes the times and the epochs; He removes kings and establishes kings” (2:21).

We live in a time when God has chosen for us to transition from one age to another. Our most recent age, the Age of Exuberant Olympianity, began in 1648. That’s when, exhausted by decades of wars, the best minds of Christendom abandoned Christianity and devoted themselves exuberantly to the Olympian gods, especially Vulcan the god of technology. That age, however, began its terminal decline in 2008. The financial crisis of that year was merely the symptom which revealed that the Global Technological System (GTS) was no longer sustainable.

God has chosen for us to transition from the Age of Exuberant Olympianity which he has decided to end. For people worldwide, this means that the GTS is shutting down. It has no future. For Americans, it means that the American empire is drawing to a close as well. The days when American oligarchs dominated all others are over.

God has chosen for us to transition to a new age: the Age of Chastened Christianity. Jesus Christ has always embodied the spirit of freedom; Satan, the spirit of power. With freedom come truth, love, and vitality; with power, falsehood, indifference, and death. During times past, we Christians often absurdly confused freedom and power, the spirit of Jesus with that of Satan. By bringing the GTS, the American empire, and any possibility of another global empire to an end, God is chastening us Christians. He is breaking the spell which the Olympian gods have cast over us and the world. Today Jesus is enabling us, and others through us, to be clear that his is the spirit of freedom and the only spirit which leads to life.
