(1) Jesus Christ sets us on the path of freedom which is based on truth and leads through love to eternal life. (2) Yet false gods continue to enthrall us with the path of power which is based on falsehood and leads through indifference to death. (3) Even Christians have fallen under their spell. (4) But Jesus is calling us to join him as prophetic witnesses in breaking their spell beginning with his Church. (5) Use this website to strengthen your witness to Jesus for our good and his glory.
On Healing: Biblical Texts Important to Smith Wigglesworth
In “Smith Wigglesworth (1859-1947),” we learned about his
remarkable ministry of healing which took place during the first half of the 20th
century. He once said that the best tracts ever written on healing were
Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. In Smith
Wigglesworth on Healing, he mentioned many passages from these and other
books of the Bible that strongly informed his ministry. Those he mentioned as important
included (as quoted in the New American Standard Version):
And He said, “If you will give
earnest heed to the voice of the Lordyour God, and do what is right in His sight,
and give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of
the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians; for I, the Lord, am your healer.”
burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.
of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments; His praise endures forever.
4Surely our griefs He Himself bore, And our sorrows He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, Smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But He
was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon
Him, And by His scourging we are healed.
that is formed against you will prosper; And every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their vindication is from Me,” declares the Lord.
Seek the Lord while
He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near.
“For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks
finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”
15He *said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”16Simon Peter answered, “You
are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”17And
Jesus said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and
blood did not reveal this to
you, but My Father who is in heaven.18I also say to you that you
are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates
of Hades will not overpower it.19I will give you the keys
of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have
been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed
And looking at them Jesus said to
them, “With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
But Jesus, overhearing what was being spoken,
*said to the synagogue official, “Do not be afraid any longer,
21 And He asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood.22It has often thrown him both
into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything,
take pity on us and help us!”23And Jesus said to him, “‘If You can?’ All things are possible to him who believes.”24Immediately
the boy’s father cried out and said, “I do believe; help my unbelief.”
21Being reminded, Peter *said to Him, “Rabbi, look,
the fig tree which You cursed has withered.”22And Jesus *answered saying to
them, “Have faith in God.23Truly I say to you, whoever
says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt
in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him.24Therefore I say to you, all
things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and
they will be granted you.”
15And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to
all creation.16He who has believed and has
been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.17These signs will
accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons,
they will speak with new tongues;18they
will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay
hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
18“The Spirit of the Lord is
upon Me, Because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, And recovery of sight to the blind, To set free those who are oppressed, 19To proclaim the favorable year
of the Lord.”
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and
destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”
12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in
Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I
go to the Father.13Whatever you ask
in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.14If you ask Me anything in
My name, I will do it.”
6But Peter said, “I do not possess silver and
gold, but what I do have I give to you: In the name of Jesus Christ the
seizing him by the right hand, he raised him up; and immediately his feet and
his ankles were strengthened.8With a leap he stood upright
and began to walk; and he
entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God.
“And there is salvation in no one else; for
there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we
must be saved.”
9 Then Peter said to
her, “Why is it that you have agreed together to put the Spirit of
the Lord to the test? Behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband
are at the door, and they will carry you out as
immediately she fell at his feet and breathed her last, and the young men
came in and found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her beside her
husband.11And great fear came over
the whole church, and over all who heard of these things.
11God was performing extraordinary miracles
by the hands of Paul,12so
that handkerchiefs or aprons were even carried from his body to the sick, and
the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out.
And we know that God
causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to
those who are called according to His purpose.
37But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him
who loved us.38For I am
convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor
principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,39nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able
to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our
No temptation has overtaken you but such as is
common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what
you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so
that you will be able to endure it.
20Now to Him who is able to do far more
abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that
works within us,21to
Him be the glory in the church and
in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.
4Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say,
rejoice!5Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The
Lord is near.6Be anxious for nothing, but in
everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests
be made known to God.7And the peace of God,
which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds
in Christ Jesus.
5By faith Enoch was taken up so that he would
not see death; and he
was not found because God took him up; for he obtained the witness that before his
being taken up he was pleasing to God.6And without faith it is
impossible to please Him, for he who comes
to God must believe that He is and that He
is a rewarder of those who seek Him.
12Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of
witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the
sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the
race that is set before us,2fixing
our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set
before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat
down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Pursue peace with all men, and the sanctification
without which no one will see the Lord.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
6But he must ask in faith without any
doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and
tossed by the wind.7For
that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord,8being a double-minded man, unstable
in all his ways.
14Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders
of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the
name of the Lord;15and
the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick,
and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they
will be forgiven him.16Therefore, confess your
sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The
effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.
1 Peter 3:14-15
14But even if you should suffer for the sake
of righteousness, you are blessed. And do not fear theirintimidation, and do not
be troubled,15but sanctify Christ
as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to
make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope
that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence…

overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in
For whatever is born of God overcomes the
world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
